Present Perfect Tense

Present perfect tense is generally used to express the events that began in the past and continues until now. The possibility is expected to continue until a certain time in the future.

Present perfect tense pada umumnya digunakan untuk menyatakan peristiwa yang diawali di masa lampau dan terus berlangsung hingga sekarang . Kemungkinan masih akan terus berlangsung sampai suatu waktu tertentu di masa yang akan datang.

Use of  Present Perfect Tense 
1.  Used to describe the events that began in the past and continues until now. For this purpose they use the adverb for (selama) and since (sejak).

Digunakan untuk menyatakan peristiwa yang diawali di masa lampau dan terus berlangsung hingga sekarang. Untuk tujuan ini di pakai kata keterangan for (selama) dan since (sejak).

Example:                    

 Mr. Edward has lived in California for ten years.

(Tuan Edward telah tinggal di California selama 10 tahun)

Mr. Edward has lived in California since 2005.

(Tuan Edwar telah tinggal di California sejak 2005)  
2. Used to describe an event or action that began in the past and stop when talking. Digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu peristiwa atau perbuatan yang diawali di masa lampau dan berhenti pada saat bicara

Example:

I haven’t seen you for weeks. Where have you been?

(Saya telah tidak bertemu kamu selama berminggu-minggu. Kemana saja kamu?) 
3. Used to describe an event or action that is ongoing or unfinished of a specific time in the past to the present and likely still will continue until a certain time in the future. For this purpose often in use statements like "all this year, all day, all night, all his life, all the time, recently, etc ..."

Digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu peristiwa atau perbuatan yang terus berlangsung ataupun belum selesai dari waktu tertentu di masa lampau hingga sekarangdan kemungkinan masih akan terus berlangsung sampai suatu waktu tertentu  di masa yang akan datang. Untuk tujuan ini sering kali di pakai keterangan seperti “ all this year, all day, all night, all this life, all the time, recently, dsb...”

Example:

They have lived in poverty all this year

(Mereka telah hidup dalam kemiskinan sepanjang tahun ini)  
4. Used to describe an event or action that occurred in the past but still linked to the present, namely that the events of the past can still happen or could still be repeated in the present. Digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu peristiwa atau perbuatan yang terjadi dimasa lampau tetapi masih terkait dengan masa sekarang, yaitu bahwa kejadian masa lampau itu masih bisa terjadi atau masih bisa terulang dimasa sekarang.

Example:

I have seen wolves in that forest.

(saya telah melihat serigala di dalam hutan itu) 
5. Used to declare an event or act occurring or done in the past but has effects that can be seen or felt now. Digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu peristiwa atau perbuatan yang terjadi atau dilakukan di masa lampau tetapi memiliki akibat yang bisa di lihatatau dirasakan sekarang.

Example:

He has washed the car. It looks clean now.

(Dia telah mencuci mobil itu. Mobil itu terlihat bersih sekarang) 
6. Used to declare an event or action ever (pernah), never (tidak pernah), often (sering), once (sekali) occur in one's life, and for this purpose are often added to the adverb before. Digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu peristiwa atau perbuatan yang pernah (ever), tidak pernah (never) , sering (often), sekali (once) terjadi dalam kehidupan seseorang, dan untuk tujuan ini sering kali ditambahkan dengan kata keterangan before.

Example:

She has often visited the museum before.

(Dia sudah sering mengunjungi musium itu sebelumnya)

Example:

(+) I have lived here for five years

(-) I have not lived here for five years

(?) Have you lived here for five years?

Nominal Sentence

 (+) S + Has/Have + Been + Non Verb

 (-)  S + Has/Have + Not + Been + Non Verb

 (?)   Has/ Have+  S + Been +  Non Verb

Example:

(+)  I have been here since Sunday

(-)  I have not been here since Sunday

(?) have I been here since Sunday?
